Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and people have lots of ways to celebrate the holiday. If this year’s Thanksgiving will be one of the best, you’re in luck! We’re counting down the best ways you can entertain yourself this Thanksgiving. I’m sure you’ll have lots of fun trying these.

Watch the Thanksgiving Day parade.

Macy’s has their annual Thanksgiving Day parade, filled with giant balloons, floats, and dances, starring your favorite TV and movie characters including Angry Birds’ Red, Hello Kitty, Ronald McDonald, and Spongebob Squarepants. The Thanksgiving Day parade starts at 9 a.m. and lasts until 11 a.m. Local news stations like CBS, ABC, and NBC typically broadcast the parade. You can watch the parade on Verizon’s YouTube channel as well. The parade is always great to watch with your friends, and family members. It’s very fun and exciting to see what balloons will light up the parade each year.

Play or watch a football game

Watching football on Thanksgiving is a favorite American pastime. They’re fun to watch if you want to relax, while entertaining you and your guests. Games are typically played throughout the day on local TV channels such as ABC, NBC, and CBS. If watching football isn’t your thing, you can play your own game of football. Either way, I guarantee you’ll have some fun.

Play games

Playing games are a fun way to have some fun with everyone. Games like Monopoly, Life, Uno, Pictionary, and Clue are a great way to spend some quality time with friends and family members. Card and dice games like Yahtzee, Spades, Dominoes, and Spoons are also popular. If board games aren’t your thing, play games like Charades, Would You Rather, Never Have I Ever, or The Game of Things. These are all very fun for the whole family, and there is always something for everyone.

Relax

Because the Thanksgiving meal is such a big meal, it may leave you and your guests feeling tired. It’s always enjoyable to sit down and doze off on the couch for a little while after the big meal. Others may choose to take a walk around the neighborhood instead, or watch TV. You don’t always have to be active to completely enjoy the holiday.

Eat!!!

The best way to celebrate Thanksgiving is to throw a giant feast, an American classic. Throwing a huge feast will guarantee you’ll grow at least five pounds. “It’s a Thanksgiving classic.” Says Mckinnley Sampson, seventh grade, “And, it’s delicious.” People enjoy feasting on turkey, stuffing, rolls, and pies. To have the best feast, try to order your turkey two to three weeks in advance. That way prices will be a lot lower and you’ll have more time to cook everything. Also, cook any additional side dishes while the turkey is cooking. Green beans, dinner rolls, sweet potatoes, and corn are typical side dishes served with the turkey. You can also serve ham with the turkey as well. Before you start digging into all the food, ask everyone what they’re thankful for. After all, that’s what Thanksgiving is celebrated for.

I recommend trying the things on this list to entertain yourself, so that you’re not waiting around till the big feast. Do you agree with this list? Do you celebrate Thanksgiving differently?
