The history of art was developed in the West, and originally dealt exclusively with European art history. Gradually, over the time of the 20th century, the history of art has developed. This improved version includes societies from across the globe. There are now many ways to show art other than sketching or painting. You can now express art through stories, music or dance.

Nobody knows when people starting making art, but people think that art has been created as far back as 100,000 years ago. One of the earliest artwork comes from Africa in the form of stone carvings. There are many of paintings and carvings from both Africa and Europe, going back to 32,000 BC. Around 9,000 BC, people began to change from being travelers to settling down in villages. At this time the art began to develop into larger pieces. In West Asia and Egypt the first stone and clay statues were created and this is also when artists began to create pottery. From then on, art started to develop even more and improve on many more things.
