Lydia Merkouche, an artist, developed a lifelong passion for art ever since she was barely a one year old. She was introduced to art by her brother “who is also quite the artist.” Since art allows her to express herself, “with not words, but rather feelings made visible,” she has been interested in it for all these years, as she enjoys all types of art.

This is one of her first drawings produced with what some people like to call “professional art tools,” but she believes that with art, “you can make anything out of  anything.” Although this particular drawing is merely skill put on paper, it is one of her favorite objects to draw, the eye. Although she is not quite sure why she continues to draw this so many times, she is beginning to think that “it’s a reminder that you don’t need eyes to see art, because it’s truly all around you, but you do need your mind’s eyes to realize that.”
