Mardi Gras is here, and it is bringing all of the cheer! On March 5th the holiday that gathers all people around to let loose and get ready to stuff themselves full of food. In French, “Mardi Gras” means “Fat Tuesday.” This is no surprise considering that what many people do on March 5th is eat… a lot! There is a time period called “Lent” which begins the day after Mardi Gras. Because many people start fasting on Lent, Fat Tuesday allows them eat whatever they want without shame. Mardi Gras is all about festivals, parades, and parties, so for these celebrations you must have amazing decorations. Here are two D.I.Y. decoration ideas for Mardi Gras.

Masks
At Mardi Gras it is not a strange sight to see people wearing beautiful and extravagant masks for the night. If you don’t want to spend money on a mask, you can always follow these steps and make your own!
To make one of these, you will need to buy a plain mask, which is very cheap and can find at any craft store, and anything you want to bedazzle the mask with (sequins, glitter, feathers, beads, etc.). Then just add it all on the mask and glue it down and then you are ready to rock your hand made mask.

2. Wreath
To make a wreath that has everything Mardi Gras related may seem like a difficult task, but it is actually quite easy if you follow along with these directions!
The supplies you need are a wire wreath form, multiple rolls of mesh ribbon, picture frame, masquerade mask, Mardi Gras beads, scissors, pipe cleaners, hot glue, and hot glue gun. Cut the ribbon to any desired lengths. Start making bows, and loops, and secure them with a pipe cleaner. Make a flower resembling thing with the ribbon and secure it to the wreath with pipe cleaners. Add the mask and beads to the wreath and then print out a Mardi Gras saying and put it in the picture frame. Then attach the picture frame to the center of the wreath and then you have it! A D.I.Y Mardi Gras wreath!
