May is the fifth month of the year and has 31 days. Also, May was named after the Roman goddess named Maia.

 

  • May 1, 1930 – the Empire State Building was built.
  • May 4 is National Star Wars Day for the sole reason being “May the ‘fourth’ be with you”.
  • May 8, is VE Day, the day the allies claimed victory in Europe.
  • May 10, 1869 – Union Pacific and Central Pacific railroads completed the Transcontinental Railroad.  
  • May 12 is Mother Day.     
  • May 23, 1934 – the criminals Bonnie Parker, Clyde Barrow were ambushed and killed near Bienville Parish, Louisiana.
  • May 25, 1977 – Star Wars opened Memorial Day weekend
  • May 27 is Memorial Day which is a day to remember all the fallen soldiers.
  • May 29, 1911 – The inaugural Indianapolis 500 was run at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
