The Fight to the Super Bowl

The NFL (National Football League) has its annual Super Bowl every year during February. This year, it is being held during February 2 at 6:30 p.m. Before the Super Bowl, 12 teams have to compete in the playoffs, the two best teams will play each other in the Super Bowl for the title of the best team in the NFL. If you lose one game you are out, so every team that qualifies will have to play their best every game. There are four divisions in each conference (a conference is a league inside a league.) The winner of each division will automatically qualify for the playoffs.

The Super Bowl isn’t just important to the teams that are in it, but it is also important to the 103.4 million people that watch it a year. People make bets and have parties for the game, but best of all if your team wins you get bragging rights. On Super Bowl Sunday, 1.3 billion chicken wings, 12.5 million pizzas, and 28,000,000 pounds of chips are eaten on Super Bowl Sunday. Over 300,000 bets for the Super Bowl were made, $11.4 billion was bet last year. There are some people whose favorite part about the game is the commercials, it costs $5 million to play a 30-second ad during the Super Bowl,  that’s about $175,000 per second.

Winning the Super Bowl doesn’t just mean fame and glory it also means money, each player on the winning team gets a bounce $107,000, but losing doesn’t mean anything, each player on the losing team gets a bounce of $67,000.  Winning the Super Bowl also brings fame, you will get additional money by starring in commercials and being on billboard ads are even talk show. The playoffs begin on Jan 5th, so turn on your TV and watch a team snatch Super Bowl glory.
