Nutrisystem is a fad diet which consists of fruits, vegetables, nuts, fresh meats, dairy, and other foods. In the article, “Nutrisystem diet: Expert Reviews” it states, “Many other diets beat Nutrisystem in preventing or managing cardiovascular disease. Experts gave Nutrisystem a “minimally effective” rating”. This shows that the diet can only effect you a little bit on how slim you get and how much your diet changes in the long run.
History of the Diet
Nutrisystem was made in the early 1970s, by Harold Katz and was first introduced as a healthy-drink program. In the 1990s, the company made reheatable breakfast, lunches, dinners, and snacks.
Kelly Plowe is a nutritionist and said that Nutrisystem is a “delivery program that focuses on eating real food”. But she argues that the portions are small and expensive for what it is. She also says “Relying on a meal delivery service isn’t sustainable for most people, so healthy, long-term habits are not learned.”.
Daily Meals & Cost
Daily meal plans are different for both men and women. The chart down below will explain what to eat for eat gender. Nutrisystem is $234.99 to $339.99 for women and from $274.99 to $379.99 for men per month.
Your daily meal plan is as follows;
Breakfast: oatmeal, muffins, granola, and pancakes.
Lunches and dinners: tacos; chicken and pasta; soup, stew, and chili; and pizza.
For desserts and snacks: brownies, cake, or cookies.
Pros & Cons
Not much prep needed
Many varieties to choose from
Doesn’t promote healthy foods
No eating out
Personally, I would not do Nutrisystem. Nutrisystem does not promote healthy foods and is over priced for what it is. They have small proportions, it doesn’t promote healthy foods AND the foods are heavily processed.
