Is it worth it?

The Paleo Diet is a dietary plan that focuses on foods similar to what might have been eaten during the Paleolithic era, which dates from approximately 2.5 million to 10,000 years ago. A Paleo diet typically includes lean meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. A Paleo diet limits foods that became common when farming emerged about 10,000 years ago like dairy products, legumes and grains. The Paleo diet may be expensive at first but that is because Paleo dieters recommended to clean out your cupboard. An approximate amount is around $150/week for two people on the diet. The first week on Paleo may be more, especially if you don’t have a lot of the staples in your cupboard already like coconut flour, almond butter, etc. Those things can be expensive but also last a while, and they don’t need to be bought every week, or even every month. There really is no specific type of meal to have on the Paleo diet, but the food mostly consist of vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, lean meat, fish, eggs, oils that come from fruit or nuts , etc. Specific foods to stay away from while on this diet are grains, including wheat, oats, and barley, legumes (such as beans, lentils, etc), salt, dairy, trans fats (hydrogenated oils), and refined sugars. When people see the word “diet” they may automatically think it will benefit them in any way they need it to but one doctor claims the Paleo diet may not be the alternative choice “The key to good nutrition is moderation, variety, and balance, and the Paleo diet lacks variety and balance.” Dolinski says.

I personally don’t think this is a diet I would do. Weighing out the pros and cons I found that even though using the Paleo diet may bring up my iron, that’s not worth the health concerns doctors have with it. It also costs a lot of money long-term and I don’t think it’s effective enough to spend hundreds of dollars on it. I would never try this Paleo Diet.
