St. Patrick's Day!

March 17th is just around the corner, and you’re probably wondering what type of decorations you would want to use this year. On March 17th, many will wear green in honor of the Irish and will decorate with shamrocks. The three-leaf clover, a type of trefoil plant, has been considered the unofficial national flower of Ireland for centuries. Tradition holds that if you find a four-leaf clover, you are very lucky. The leaves of four-leaf clovers are said to stand for faith, hope, love, and luck. For this craft, we will be making a shamrock, out of footprints! However, we will be using our hands to make the shape of footprints, because there won’t be enough room on the paper and it would make a complete mess!

Items you will be needing:

-a white piece of paper

-green washable paint

-a paintbrush

-gold glitter

-a pair of hands

  • To start off, you want to paint the side of your fist, so it could make the shape of a footprint. You will need both hands because we want the footprints to face each other to make the three-leaf clover shape.
  • Next, stamp your fist onto the paper in three spots, then switch hands, and repeat. Add an extra stamp at the bottom to make the shape of the stem.
  • To make the big toes on the feet, you can use your pointer fingers, dip them in paint and stamp them onto the paper. Then, dip your pinky finger into the green paint and four other little toes on each foot, except the stem.
  • Lastly, before you let the paint dry, sprinkle on some gold glitter to add some finishing touches.

And that’s it!  Now you have an adorable little three-leaf shamrock made out of footprints! You can hole punch the top and hang this as a cute decoration or you can use a magnet and put it onto your fridge!
